Yeast Respiration Lab

Cells release energy from sugar by respiration, but when oxygen runs short yeast switches to fermentation, producing ethanol and carbon dioxide instead. The gas given off is a direct measure of how fast the cells are working. In this virtual lab you feed yeast different sugars and conditions and compare the rates you get.
