How quickly a person breaks down alcohol depends on two enzymes, ADH1B and ALDH2, and on the DNA that codes for them. A single base change can alter one amino acid and leave an enzyme working faster or barely working at all, producing traits such as the alcohol flush. Follow that path from DNA to RNA to protein, then match genotypes to the phenotypes they produce.
